Border Release Advanced Screening & Selectivity

This is the new system of applying for Line Release. The U.S. Customs Service has expedited its new release program, formerly known as Line Release. The new program has been converted to BRASS (Border Release Advanced Screening & Selectivity). U.S. Customs Services has centralized the BRASS application process in St. Albans, Vermont.

Previously under Line Release an Importer was required to have a minimum of 50 shipments per year, per port, utilizing the same HS code. Under B.R.A.S.S. an Importer is required to have only 25 shipments per year at all ports utilizing the same HS code. As a result more Importers may now qualify for Line Release than before. We have already applied under this new system and the approval time has been shortened and more Importers have qualified because of the reduced volume requirements. You will still require the same basic information. For each tariff classification applied you will need to provide us with the following documentation:

Copy of the U.S. Entry Summary Copy of the Invoice or Proforma Invoice used at time of release Copy of the Commercial Billing Invoice to your U.S. Customer Copy of your U.S. Customs Bond  Once we have this documentation we will make application on your behalf.

Once approved, usually 4 to 8 weeks, we will obtain the bar codes, test them for compliance with U.S. Customs and advise you the logistics of U.S. Customs clearance.
