The following message is from the Electronic Commerce Unit at the CCRA. Further to the EDU's message of November 1, 2001, the
following is a reminder that in accordance with Customs Notice 410,
there is a requirement for the mandatory assignment of an HS code on
PARS and RMD release requests, Effective May 1, 2002. As a result, certain edits will be added to ensure that the 10 digit HS code is transmitted along with the invoice page and line number. At least one 10 digit HS code must be transmitted on the PARS and RMD release requests valued at CAN$1,600 or more even if the AQ is to follow. This HS code assigned must reflect either the highest value line on the invoice or a reasonable representation of the goods within the shipment. However, it must be emphasized that current mandatory HS requirements for EDI shipments containing goods subject to review by other government departments (OGD) remain in effect. If the HS code is not transmitted, a new error code will be transmitted back to the client. A revised version of the ACROSS Participants
