If you are planning on importing a vehicle into Canada, you must first make sure it can be admitted into Canada. And, that it can be modified to meet Canadian standards by checking the Registrar of Imported Vehicles website at: www.riv.ca

Things you will Need:

A Bill of Sale,
An Original Certificate of Title
The Last Copy of Registration for the Vehicle
A NAFTA Certificate (if applicable)
A Salvage Certificate (if applicable)
A Recall Clearance Letter from the Original Manufacturer or dealer

Please note that U.S. Customs requires 72 hours prior notice of all vehicles permanently exported from the U.S.A.

Once you have all your documents in order and the vehicle title has been surrendered to U.S. Customs, the vehicle can then be imported into Canada.

FORM 1

A Form 1 will be prepared at the border and submitted to the RIV to indicate a vehicle has been imported. Once the Form 1 fee has been paid by the importer to the RIV, a Form 2 will be issued. The required modifications must be made within 45 days and then the vehicle must be presented for inspection.
